چکیده

Spin relaxation of Mn ions in a (Cd,Mn)Te quantum well with quasi-two-dimensional carriers (Q2DEG) is investigated. The mechanism of energy transfer is spin–flip scattering of Mn spin with electrons making transitions between spin subbands accompanied by a change in the Mn spin. A calculation of the spin–flip scattering rate shows that the Mn spin relaxation rate is proportional to the coupling constant squared, the density of states squared, and the electron temperature, the so called Korringa relaxation rate. It was found that for small Mn ion concentration, the relaxation time < 10 –10 s is in a good agreement with experimental results. Moreover, the relaxation rate scales with L; L being the well width, and it can be enhanced over its value in bulk. q 2003 Published by Elsevier Ltd. PACS: 72.15.Lh; 73.20.Dx; 73.20. 2 r; 73.90. þ f

Magneto-quantum oscillations of the Korringa relaxation rate of manganese ion near a two-dimensional electron gas

The Mn ion-spin relaxation rate (Korringa relaxation) in the vicinity of the two-dimensional electrons (2DEG) in a Mn-based semiconductor nanostructures in a quantizing magnetic field was calculated. The Korringa relaxation is an energy-consuming process due to the difference in magnetic moments of localized and electrons spins involved. The mechanism of energy transfer between the Mn spin and ...

Calculation of Quasi-one-dimensional Interacting Electron Gas Using the Hartree-Fock Method

In this paper, the Hartree-Fock method has been formulated to investigate some of the ground state properties of quasi-one-dimensional interacting electron gas in the presence of the magnetic field. The bare coulomb interaction between electrons has been assumed. For this system, we have also computed some of its thermodynamic and magnetic properties such as the energy, pressure, incompressibil...

Local Field Correction Effect on Dicluster Stopping Power in a Strongly Coupled Two-Dimensional Electron Gas System

We calculate the stopping power for heavy-ion diclusters moving in a strongly coupled two-dimensional electron gas system by using the local field corrected dielectric function at finite temperature. We obtain a parameterized local field correction factor based on a relation between the thermal compressibility and exchange-correlation energy in two-dimension. The interpolated parameter is deriv...

Nonlinear resistivity of a two-dimensional electron gas in a magnetic field

We develop a theory of nonlinear response to an electric field of a two-dimensional electron gas 2DEG placed in a classically strong magnetic field. The latter leads to a nonlinear current-voltage characteristic at a relatively weak electric field. The origin of the nonlinearity is twofold: the formation of a nonequilibrium electron distribution function and the geometrical resonance in the int...

The influence of inelastic relaxation time on intrinsic spin Hall effects in a disordered two-dimensional electron gas

The influence of inelastic relaxation time on the intrinsic spin Hall effects in a disordered two-dimensional electron gas with Rashba interaction is studied; we clarify the controversy as regards impurity effects in the system. We reveal that, due to the existence of inelastic scattering, the spin Hall conductivity does not vanish when the impurity concentration diminishes to zero, regardless ...
